Multi monitor trouble
G'day everyone,
I'll start from the beginning, I have just rebuilt my computer and it includes two 6870's, so in theory I should have 8 monitor capacity. But for a reason that eludes me, I am being limited to 3 monitors, when I plug the 4th monitor in, one of the 3 existing monitors shuts down. I...
life again in a dead laptop
This is a HP DV9720 and I'm using it now. The monitor was blank, so I replaced the LCD screen, the power inverter, and the video cable, but it didn't help. I still had a laptop that I could only use with a side port external monitor.
During the game I tried something different. I hit the power button and closed the laptop lid until it snapped shut.
The side monitor came on as usual, but when I opened the laptop lid to my surprise the LCD was working.
Since last weekend I have restarted this once dead laptop over a dozen times using the same steps and it works every time.
If I leave the lid open and hit the power button the LCD does not come on, just the external monitor works. I shut down normally wait a few seconds and I hit the power button again and snap the lid closed.
I wait until I hear the windows music and open the lid to a working LCD again.
I have ordered another video cable and a lid switch, which I now feel will fix the problem.
I just hope the sequence I found can help someone else identify a problem they are having with a dead LCD screen.

How to act against ACTA and HR1981
ACTA (The Anti-Counterfeiting Trade Agreement) is a proposed plurilateral agreement for the purpose of establishing international standards on intellectual property rights enforcement in Europe.
ACTA would establish a new international legal framework that would create its "own governing body outside existing international institutions" such as - the World Trade Organization (WTO), the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) or the United Nations.

Right now this bill is x10 much worse than SOPA or PIPA right now. How can we act against it? Read here: https://www.laquadrature.net/wiki/Ho...t_against_ACTA
As for HR 1981 (the Protecting Children from Internet Pornographers Act) just do what we did to SOPA and PIPA. It make sound like a good legislation, but it infringes on our privacy greatly.

Thanks for reading/watching. Keep the fight on brothers and sisters, we cannot allow them to take our internet freedom away. Cheers.
Question about Wordpad
It comes up with the following Ling Spacing settings as the default:

This is a real pain for me because I use Wordpad all the time, but I don't like these default settings, I used the settings shown in the right of above graphic.
Is there any way to change these default settings in Wordpad permanently?
Thank you.
Power Supply and/or hdd problems
Well here's the second part of the problem. I had some stuff on my hard drive I needed access so after more research, I found I needed a usb hard drive case and borrowed one from a friend. Well I plugged it in and all the hard drive does is click and squeak like once a second. Please tell me I don't have both a bad hard drive and psu. Thank in advance for the replies.
Reasons for Blue Screen of Death
I reboot.... then it happens again.
Why does it happen?
EDIT: I've had this PC for 2 days.
Randomly port used, higher than 49151
This is my first post here, I´d like to congratulate on these forums, they look quite useful . I am Spaniards, sorry for my English.
I´d like to ask about a issue I am having in my pc , Windows Vista and Comodo Internet Security Premium. It´s a general security question actually.
When I execute as an Admin (Windows Vista) netstat -anb -p tcp I see some ports: 49152,49153...49156 and I see that all belong to system stuff such as: wininit.exe, Eventlog, nsi, schedule, lsass.exe and services.exe
For what I have read in some links, they all say that Vista and Windows 2008 use such ports randomly, to some purpose, but the point is that in my case those ports are being used by system tasks . I would dare to say I shoudn´t be worried about that, because, even if these port are listening, they have to ..don´t they? . I mean, I am not so sure about it.
Anyway, when I go to "Comodo Internet Security Premium" to the section "Active Connections" in the Firewall area, I don´t see these ports named above, so, I think I can be reassured, but still not sure.
In short: Is it normal that such services are listening in those ports?
Thanks in advance!
does downloading large file risk disconnection ??
later, i tried downloading the file again, before i downloaded i even closed MSN, i even stopped any other activity and sat down to look at the downloading status like a dummy, for a good period of time it was okay, the downloadspeed is somehow between 6xx Kb/s to 7xx Kb/s, but when the file downloaded to 1.5GB, in a sudden instant the speed dropped to 0 KB/s then JDownloader reconnects, meaning another big waste of traffic.
Here i have some question concerning my situation
1. what is the reason behind this incident? is it the file too big? since i had never downloaded big file like this .
2. if it's due to the big size of the file, any methods to avoid, or say to eliminate the chance of disconnection
next time? becaues i will have to download a few more files as big like this and oron does not compensate for the
wasted traffic.
Thanks all!
